Miss South Africa Demi Leigh-Peters from Cape Town was crowned Miss Universe at glamorous event in Las Vegas on Sunday and need I say more, she truly deserves it.
Aged 22, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters recently earned her degree in Business Management at North West University. She held two leadership positions during her time there and draws most of her motivation from her half-sister who has a disability and lives with her stepmother and father.
She fought of rivalry from Colombia and Jamaica to take the crown and put Africa on the map once again. It seems nothing can really stop the continent from moving up if we set our minds to it.
Not only is she beautiful but also a graduate in business management, dispelling societal misogynist attachments on women in beauty competitions.
She was crowned by the current Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere of France and took her walk before a seemingly satisfied crowd.
Steve Harvey returned as host to the show despite his huge boob in 2015 where he announced the wrong winner. This time he was a bit more careful and well rehearsed.
