Actor Sandy Mokwena has died

He was 68.

Bra Eddie as he was known for his role in the daytime soapie, Scandal.

"We are deeply saddened by the news and our condolonces go out to Sandy's family and the cast and crew of Scandal" e.tv reported.

Mokwena was born 26 July 1946and has been with Scandal! since its inception in January 2005. Before gaining considerable amount of popularity in this daytime production, Bra Eddie had played in numerous South African shows including Soul City, Khululeka, Homeland, Yizo Yizo, Zero Tolerance, Dwaalspoor and Generations.

I particularly enjoyed his portrayal in Scandal as a journalist, the role suited him very well and he represented journalists quite well.

He also acted in a few films like Okavango, Torings, Scarback, Dead End, Africa, The Principal, Tutus and the Amazing Jewel, Wheels and Deals and Taxi to Soweto.

The country has certainly lost two great stars in the space of a few hours and as irony has it, both affectionately known as Bra Eddie and Hugh.
