DKT Records takes dancehall to another level

Glen Norah based DKT Records will release their next project in style by staging a Passa Passa dubbed The Shop Riddim with more than thirty recording artistes lined up to perform.

Kinnah, Ricky Fire, Ras Caleb, Silent Killer, Lady Squanda, Dobba Don, Guspy Warrior and Hwindi President are some of the prominent names within the dancehall circles who will grace the Passa Passa.

The event which is free will be staged on Friday 8 December 2017 at the studio premises after a long break of staging such gigs in the urban area of Glen Norah.

Judgement Yard, Fire Linx, Bodyslam, Chillspot Family and Abisha Palmer will also spin the decks on the Passa Passa throughout the night to the marvel of the dancehall fanatics around town.

DKT Records has proved to be a force to reckon over the past years as evidenced by quite a number of hits songs emanating from the stable which include tracks from Soul Jah Love such as Mwana waSthembeni and Senherera.

The Shop Riddim comes as the nation concocts for the much awaited ZimDancehall Awards which will be hosted this month on the 29th in the Capital City of Zimbabwe, Harare.

Some of the categories which will be combated out on the night are King and Queen of Zimdancehall, Best Vocalist, Best Video Producer, Best Riddim and Best Video.

Notably the hegemony of the nominees is mostly Harare based artistes which has forced the organisers to formulate new categories to honour those specifically outside the Capital City radius.

These categories are Best Producer Outside Harare and Best Artiste Outside Harare which is an apathy which has been turned into sympathy by the organisers and it should co-opted by the media as well.
