With all the media available to us, from a click of a button we are more exposed now than we ever are to the world of trends and fashion. These trends are sent directly into the hands of the people that appreciate it more; but as the times change, we are moving (and to a certain extent a bit too quick for some) as it seems the world reaches new heights in this regard.

Hence why we occasionally need to visit the fountain of youth to be deemed as fresh young minds in the ever changing world of fashion. In today's twitter led universe, words spoken have become less and some notable points have been scratched out and never communicated. There seems to be a missing piece when we don’t tell the full story and we forget about the unsung heroes still working hard to stay ahead of the pack.

We have forgotten the underdogs, the talented 'young blood' with not enough followers on his Instagram. The tailor from town making amazing garments but cannot make it to the streets, busy making clothing for creative’s with a bigger budget and less patience.

Or the big girl on social media with too much melanin for some people's liking, oh and the detailed chap who does not have the right connects in Braam to get into great Dane.

We need the EFF's tenacity in the world of 'istayela' and a vocal voice that will capture the true avengers of strict etiquette and that's where I step in.

Allow me to introduce myself Yehudi Nyiko Mbhalati, a translator of style and all its funny, quirky, miserable, sublime, amazing, awful, honest and genius moments through experiencing my world, Yehudi the jew.

A creative writer, well travelled in Jozi who likes to look at what people are wearing and to my imagination, a critic and a teacher and also an appreciator of all that’s fitted in the streets. I translate all the best fashion styles in a fun filled way in a simple language as best as possible.

Here are a few fashion definitions for you today.

Taste makers

From the unruly complex Mr avenue Floyd has reignited pure deinm and created craftman like collection of cow boys, walking into asia and coming out the other side of Europe. His own perception of making this collection is abit too complex for the ordinary slug that’s reading this while at kitcheners drinking a beer, macking on a young thing and trying to find out where he can buy Floyds sublime collection. I have had the chance to interview Floyds avenue about this collection after he won best designer at fashion week in 2017. The love of crafting engineering the look and feel of this collection is meant to be heard while having wine and cheese at the local vineyard somewhere in Stellenbosch.

The men's accessory

The past 5years, the modern day lover of style has emerged victorious as how he has managed to accessorize his style with the fanny pack. The outdoor compact bag usually used as a travel bag for small money, passports and tiny things needed while traveling. Has become a statement piece and usually associated with the modern day street style activist. Doing away with the normal duffle bag, the fanny pack has become important to men as much as it is to woman that need purses and hand bags. Global street brands and retailers such as Topman and Zara have made it a much needed accessory in their range of items that they selling to have fanny packs. Much to the craze, it is not as easy to find like a purse, much due to the demand of the modern man of style.

Hairstyles and f*#@boys

The trends wont stop and some of them, born of unruly nature. The bad boys that we love to hate, but love anyway. Theres endless memes and a million posts of how woman should stay away from boys that resemble any of these guys, especially that have this hairstyle. This is the f*#@boy hairstyle born from light skinned boys, from the days of David Beckham when he wore it best when he moved to Bernabao of Real Madrid. The ladies went crazy as the men bun took shape and all that was bad was deemed good.

The pretty boys, the womanizers, the players all dawned the colors of what they stood for and accepted by society. The f*#@boy has become a staple hair do as the fade is to the clean cut gentlemen.
