Oliver Mtkudzi just turned 65 in September, continues to headline big shows such the

annual Buyel’ ekhaya Pan African Cultural Festival returning to the shores of East London for its ninth successive year.

At his age, Oliver would have retired if it was a straight 9 to 5 job but because, 'music is the food of life', he certainly still has a lot more to give and belt out on the stage.

Black Coffee, Ringo Madlingozi, Zahara, Berita, Amanda Black, Vusi Nova, Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira, Ntando, Lady Zamar are amongst the many that will grace the stage on the 17th of December.

Festival Founder, Nomahlubi Mazwai believes that it is pivotal to the sustainability of festivals to continue to contribute meaningfully to the communities to which they belong. “Buyel'Ekhaya is a clarion call for all who belong to the Eastern Cape to return and plough back meaningfully to the development of the province's youth,” says Mazwai.

Oliver Mtukudzi remains a celebrated International star and continues to shine the light for the Zimbabwean artists and music but one feels, just like in a relay, where he needs other partners to also pull the weight, he is running the race all by himself. Jah Prayzer, who many believe will inherit the superstars charm and musical wisdom, will have to do more to creating a lasting legacy for the country such as has been created by Samanyanga.

Tickets to the Music Festival are on sale at Computicket, Shoprite at Checkers outlets nationwide, at R200 for general admission and R50 for cooler box entry. Log on to www.buyelekhaya.co.za for more information.
